Valentina Uribe Cortes Violin
Valentina Uribe Cortes, born in Medellín, Colombia, in 2000, is a violinist, teacher, and cultural entrepreneur. She won the ANDI scholarship, allowing her to successfully study violin performance at EAFIT University under the tutelage of Santiago Medina Cepeda. Valentina's orchestral training was enriched by participating in various youth orchestras in her city, such as La Red, the Symphony Orchestra of Antioquia, Camerata Jaibana, and the Iberacademy Foundation, where she received instruction from esteemed national and international teachers. Additionally, in 2019, she attended the Summer Orchestra Institute at NEC in Boston.
During the pandemic, she created a music therapy program for ICU patients to aid in their recovery through music. Valentina believes in the power of education, and for that reason, she has volunteered as a music teacher for children and youth in vulnerable situations. She is currently a violin and viola teacher at the National Batuta Foundation in Quibdó, Chocó, a region with high violence and poverty. Her goal is to transform and improve the lives of children and youth through excellent musical training.
This year, Valentina is expanding her knowledge in music education with some of the best teachers in the Benedetti Foundation Ambassador Programme. She is also part of the 2024 cohort of the Global Leader Institute's cultural entrepreneurship program. Valentina aims to advance violin education in Latin America by founding Intersoul, a violin center offering diverse, inclusive, and accessible learning tools.
