Susanna Alsey Violin

Susanna Alsey is a British violinist and educator. She is a member of Southbank Sinfonia for the 2024-2025 season and has performed across the UK as part of the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation Programme 2023-2024, the English Arts Orchestra, Suffolk Philharmonic, Buxton International Festival Young Instrumentalists Programme, Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy, at the BBC Proms and alongside the Hallé Orchestra. She has also performed internationally as a soloist in various festivals and masterclasses including InterHarmony International Music Festival, Allegro Vivo Festival and will be performing at the Voksenåsen Summer Academy.

Susanna has really valued being a Benedetti Foundation Ambassador since 2022. She is currently a Violin Teacher at Caterham School, has a private violin studio and runs early years music groups, ensembles and teaches violin at Young Music Makers. Susanna also freelances with various organisations including National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain and has previously taught at The Purcell School, Sevenoaks School, Rochester Independent College and The Mick Jagger Centre.

Susanna completed her undergraduate studies in Music at the University of Cambridge where she held a Newnham College Instrumental Award, a Choral Exhibitioner Award, was President of the Raleigh Music Society and studied violin with Stephen Bryant. Susanna then completed her Masters in Violin Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music studying violin under Yossi Zivoni and won the RNCM Underrepresented Prize. Susanna currently studies violin under the tutelage of Krzysztof Smietana. Her violin and bow are kindly on loan from the Benslow Music Trust.
