Sophia Thaut is a multi-faceted musician and versatile violinist, committed to the exploration and transmission of music through thoughtful performance and education. An avid chamber musician and collaborator, she has performed at the Domaine Forget International Academy Chamber Music Intensive and in the string quartet in residence at the Siena International Music Festival with performances across Italy. With a curiosity for new music, she attended the soundSCAPE Festival in 2022 to collaborate with living composers and premiere new works for solo violin and chamber ensembles. As a German-American, she has held leadership roles in several orchestras and participated in orchestral projects internationally, including with the Mannheimer Kammerphilharmonie, the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin, the AIDA Opera Spectacle Tour Orchestra, and the Niagara Symphony in Canada. In 2024, she joined the Benedetti Ambassadors program to continue pursuing her passion for music education and teaching violin students. Her recent projects include completing an honors thesis exploring musical rituals in secular societies and completing a certificate in the Essentials of Performing Arts Medicine from the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA). She completed a B.M. in Violin Performance, a Music Entrepreneurship Certificate, and a Business Minor at the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating summa cum laude in 2021 and she graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters in Music Performance in 2023.
