Rona Porter
Cello
Rona is a Scottish ’cellist, composer and conductor and studied at the University of Strathclyde on the BA (Hons) Applied Music course graduating in 2002.
She lives in Inverness where she has been a strings instructor (all orchestral strings) since 2003.
A passionate and committed music educator, performer and arranger, she particularly loves working with beginner to senior ensembles and orchestras.
Rona conducts the Inverness Schools’ String Orchestra, and is the lower strings tutor for Highland Regional Youth Orchestra. She is also the principal cello of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, which has seen her tour the UK, Canada and China.
Rona has six compositions with publisher Boosey and Hawkes, two of which are on the current ABRSM Double Bass Grade 3 and 4 syllabi.
She is delighted to be working with the fabulous Benedetti Foundation.
