Meg Storer
Flute and Conducting
With bare feet and purple glasses, Meg is an eccentric conductor and educator specialising in film and programmatic music. Being offered a tailor-made course made specifically for her by Trinity Laban, Meg gained her Master’s in Conducting and Flute in 2021. Alongside her studies, Meg also successfully studied under Denise Ham at the London Conducting Academy.
By day, Meg has worked full-time for the London Symphony Orchestra since 2021. By night, Meg is a multi-talented freelance musician, working across numerous aspects of the music world, from professional conducting and performing, to teaching and workshop leading, to personalised arrangements.
Most recently, Meg is the current conductor for the Portobello Orchestra, which will be welcoming film music extraordinaire Anna Noakes as their soloist for the Reinecke Flute Concerto.
Meg’s ethos for music and music education drives her busy lifestyle, having worked with the London Youth Choirs as an Assistant Leader with their Junior Girls Choir for almost three years. With LYC, Meg has assisted each of the 10 different choirs spanning across London and has performed in prestigious venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall to St Pauls and the Royal Festival Hall.
In her spare time, Meg has a loyal cohort of private pupils based in South-East London, and also volunteers with the Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra as their secretary and permanent third flute/piccolo player, having previously been the Assistant Manager of the London City Orchestra.
