Mafalda Tuna Violin
Mafalda Tuna is a Portuguese violinist, Suzuki violin and ECE teacher, currently based in Antwerp (Belgium).
In 2011, Mafalda joined the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (Portugal), studying with Marta Eufrázio, António Saiote, Ryszard Woycicki. During her bachelor studies she took part in the Erasmus programme, allowing her to study with Ulf Klausenitzer and Dirk Mommertz at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg (Germany). In 2018, Mafalda completed her master studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels (Belgium) in the class of professor Yossif Ivanov.
Mafalda has given concerts and attended music festivals and courses in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania, Sweden and Portugal, working with conductors including Martin Andrè, Nuno Coelho, Johannes Gustavsson, Antony Hermus, Kristopher Konig, Mark Wigglesworth. She has attended masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Carlos Damas, Liana Isakadze, Gordan Nikolitch, Gerardo Ribeiro, Tatiana Samouil.
Her childhood experience of Suzuki method has led her to train as a Suzuki teacher, so since 2020 she's been following the Suzuki Teacher Training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, under the guidance of Koen Rens, Veerle Van Gorp and Wim Meuris. During 2023, she also did the Suzuki Early Childhood Education training with Patricia Rüttimann.
Mafalda has been teaching privately since 2016, and also working in music academies and schools in Belgium, besides she has also given workshops in Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands.
Mafalda's greatest joy lies in teaching music, sharing her profound passion for the violin, and inspiring her students to discover their own musical voices. For Mafalda, music is a unique form of communication, a transformative experience—a bridge to deeper connections and a more profound understanding of the world around us.
