Ksenia Lukyanova Violin
Born in Russia in 2001, Ksenia studied at the Rostov College of Art before moving to the UK, where she is currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Andrea Gajic and Katrina Lee.
Ksenia started to play violin at the age of 4 and had her first debut with Rostov Symphony Orchestra at the age of 12. Auditioning for the RCS in 2020, Ksenia was awarded full scholarship to attend the institution as part of the classical string department.
Throughout her career, Ksenia has been awarded at international and Russian competitions for both solo and chamber performances. Her orchestra experience includes working with conductors like Matthew Taylor, Tim Redmond, Tom Hammond, Michael Seal, Karin Hendrickson.
Ksenia explores various styles of repertoire including contemporary music and collaborates with jazz musicians. She took part in the Celtic Connections and Edinburgh International Festival as a member of Grit orchestra lead by Greg Lawson.
As part of duo Spectrum, together with Melia Simonot, Ksenia is trying to expand the audience of classical accordion.
Since 2023, Ksenia has worked as an upper-strings tutor at the RCS Music Centre. She is passionate about educating young people and introducing them to the world of ensemble playing, improvising, physical and creative freedom.
