Hei Chit Wong Cello
Hong Kong-born cellist Hei Chit Wong is an active performer, appearing in venues such as Hong Kong City Hall, Ravello Festival (Italy), Ferrandou Musique (France), Petworth Festival (UK), and the Romanian Athenaeum. Wong has worked with renowned artists like Alisa Weilerstein, Hannah Roberts, Colin Carr, Julian Steckel, and Sung-Won Yang.
Driven by a passion for chamber music, Wong founded the Hygge Trio in 2021, dedicated to promoting the repertoire of the clarinet trio. Since its inception, the trio has performed extensively to audiences across the UK and Europe.
In addition to his chamber and solo endeavours, Wong has led the Royal Academy Opera. He has played under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano, Ryan Bancroft, John Wilson, and Joseph Bastion. In the summer of 2022, he participated in the 30th edition of the Asian Youth Orchestra which toured seven European cities in Italy and Germany. He is also a member of the Royal Opera House Mentoring Scheme 2023-2024. Recent engagements include an 8-city UK tour with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.
Wong was recently selected as one of the instrumental ambassadors of the Benedetti Foundation, aiming to deliver accessible and quality music education to all.
Wong completed his master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Felix Schmidt, following his undergraduate studies at Hong Kong Baptist University with Ray Wang. He is currently studying privately with Tim Lowe.
