Emily Manson Saxophone

Emily is a saxophonist from Aberdeen, currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music with Rob Buckland, Carl Raven and Andy Scott.

Since beginning her studies, Emily has enjoyed being involved in music education and community music projects and is excited to explore this area further as a Benedetti Foundation Creative Learning Ambassador. She has taken part in the RNCM’s Children’s Opera project three times, and volunteers regularly with the Olympias Music Foundation’s Children’s Orchestra. She also recently finished a placement with the Seashell Trust, where she supported music sessions for children with a range of additional support needs in nurseries around Manchester.

Emily plays regularly with the RNCM Saxophone Orchestra and has recently enjoyed performances with the RNCM Session Orchestra, Brand New Orchestra, and a side-by-side project with the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Scotland. She has performed as a soloist in masterclasses with Graham Fitkin, Valentine Michaud, Emma McPhilemy and Jenni Watson.

Emily plays baritone saxophone in the award winning Solasta Saxophone Quartet alongside Eleanor Williams, Aaron Lo and Conor Parker-Delves. They enjoy performing a variety of music together from traditional repertoire to contemporary works and new compositions.

Emily would love to work with organisations that widen access to music education and opportunities to experience live music, and hopes her career will encompass elements of performing, teaching and workshop leading.
