Elena Camblor González
Singer, Conductor, Educator

Elena is a choral singer, conductor and music educator from Asturias, Spain, based in the UK and passionate about choral music and working with young people.

Since September 2021, Elena has been the Choral Lead of the In Harmony programme of Opera North (ON), Leeds, where she works with around 1500 primary school children weekly. Elena also works across the ON Learning and Engagement Department, occasionally working with the ON Youth Company Ensembles (Youth Chorus, Young Voices, and Children’s Chorus) and as a Choral Delivery Artist, leading vocal workshops in schools and CPD training in vocal leading for teachers.

Elena studied under the tutelage of Simon Halsey CBE and Julian Wilkins, the MA in Choral Conducting at the University of Birmingham, from which she graduated in December 2021. Her choral conducting education began with the Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD), being mainly tutored by Amy Bebbington.

Brought up as a choral singer within a youth choral programme in Asturias, where she acted as choral singer, conductor and workshop leader, Elena has been fortunate to witness how music changes young people’s lives every day for many years and how keeping on learning about music in any capacity, directly impacted for the better her skills as music educator and singing leader. For this reason, Elena continues studying singing and acquiring knowledge about the voice, and she is excited to become part of the Benedetti Foundation Creative Learning Ambassadors cohort in 2024.
