Clarissa Kay Violin
Clarissa is a dedicated educator and violinist with a personal mission to inspire positive change in both music and music education industries. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in London, Clarissa went on to develop herself as a holistic music educator with The Music Circle in Singapore where her passion for music education grew. This led her to pursue postgraduate study in violin performance and pedagogy at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she is currently researching healthier methods in violin performance and education, with an emphasis in injury prevention. She is also developing a teaching method that draws from the Alexander Technique,
and utilises mental skills, visualisation and breath work. As a violinist, Clarissa finds fulfilment making music with others and has played with various orchestras in Singapore, London and Scotland. She particularly enjoys chamber music and cross- art projects and is always keen to collaborate. Clarissa is also an alumnus of the Wells Cathedral
School and has studied with Catherine Lord, Sophie Langdon, Leland Chen and Andrea Gajic. Clarissa believes music and quality music education should be accessible to all and is an advocate for creating supportive communities for educators and students. Her future projects include providing accessible support and resources for teachers and students, spreading awareness and changing mindsets on injury prevention, and organising music workshops for local
communities. Besides music and teaching, Clarissa enjoys hiking, knitting and sewing, and is a busy cat/bird mum. She enjoys gardening and wildlife, and volunteers with Parrot Trust Scotland where she
works with the rehoming team and helps spread awareness on parrot care and welfare.
