Caroline Richardson
Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute

Caroline Richardson is woodwind multi-instrumentalist (Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute) from Dartford in Kent. She is currently finishing her masters in multi-reed performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was taught by Sally MacTaggart and Neil Crossley.  Previously she studied a BMus in Music performance at the University of Chichester receiving a 1st class degree.

During her degree Caroline has performed as Reed 5 (Baritone Sax, Bass Clarinet and Bb Clarinet) on Sweet Charity at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. She has also played in the BA and MA Musical Theatre Showcases as Reed 1 (Tenor and Alto Sax, Bb Clarinet and Flute) at the Shaftesbury Theatre and Trafalgar Studios Theatre in London’s Westend. She performed in a concert version of ‘Guys and Dolls’ in the Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff. Alongside her musical theatre work she has enjoyed teaching at various schools in Cardiff as well as performing with her sax quartet the ‘Carne Quartet’.

Outside of college Caroline performed ‘Kiss Me Kate’ at the Leicester Curve with the National Youth Musical Theatre in the summer of 2023 followed by performance with the same company in the “Christmas Celebration” concert at St John’s Smith Square in London. She has also worked with the Welsh Musical Theatre Orchestra performing Reed 3 (Bb Clarinet and Eb Clarinet) on Phantom of the Opera in Hereford Courtyard Theatre. Caroline performed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival Ball with the Sleepy Lagoon Orchestra.

Caroline looks forward to beginning her career as a cruise ship musician and will continue to work towards being a pit musician and widen her teaching. She is also excited to continue working with the Benedetti Foundation as an Instrumental Ambassador.
