Basak Elcil Violin
Basak Elcil is a violinist from Cyprus, currently based in Cardiff.
She began her musicianship journey at the age of 5, when she started playing the violin. She is a holder of BA Music degree from the University of Hull, and in 2023 she completed her MMus Music Performance degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. During her studies at the University of Hull she became part of several school projects, workshops, and training sessions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She also had several side-by-side rehearsals with Opera North Orchestra, and she was part of Hull University Music Society Strings Ensemble and Orchestra. In addition, she was a member of two amateur orchestras, Hessle Sinfonia and New International Chamber Ensemble. Furthermore, during this time she became well equipped in the Kodaly Education System.
During her studies at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama she widened her knowledge in many fields including orchestral performance, chamber music and solo recitals through many projects and opportunities in college. This year she became an Instrumental Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation, receiving many inspiring talks and trainings about education, performance, and many other aspects of music.
Basak is very passionate about music education and performance. She loves engaging with new people and playing with different ensembles to share her passion and love for music and violin with other musicians. She is passionate about providing opportunities for children and adults to help them discover their love for music.
